How Sky Map 2000 handles information in your browser and the website analytics used to improve the service.

Controller

The controller for Sky Map 2000, available at skymap2000.com, is M4C.PL Marcin Szewczyk-Wilgan, NIP PL6391758393.

Information used by the application

Sky Map 2000 does not require an account, login or profile. The application computes the map in your browser. If you pick a city, type coordinates or allow device location, that information is used to compute your local sky view.

Your last deliberate location, the optional location-at-startup preference, panel state, chosen layers and display preferences can be kept in local browser storage. The city search catalogue is bundled with the application: the names you type are not sent to a location-search service. You can remove saved preferences and local data through your browser’s site-data controls.

Website analytics

The main Sky Map 2000 website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site use and improve performance and user experience. Depending on browser and device settings, Google Analytics may process information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser characteristics, online identifiers and general interaction data.

Google acts under its own terms and privacy practices. Read Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google handles data.

Cookies and similar technologies

Browser storage keeps your selected map setup. Google Analytics may use cookies or comparable technologies for measurement. You can control or remove cookies and site storage through your browser settings. Restricting storage can affect saved preferences and analytics measurement, but does not prevent you from using the core sky map.

Recipients and transfers

Sky Map 2000 does not sell observing locations or browser preferences. The application does not send a chosen city, manual coordinates or device location to the project’s own servers. Analytics data is processed by Google Analytics as the analytics provider; its handling and international transfers are governed by Google’s own documentation and arrangements.

Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, erasure of, restriction of or objection to processing of personal data, and rights to data portability and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. You may also have the right to complain to a competent data-protection authority.

For application preferences saved only in your browser, clearing this site’s browser data removes the local copy. For privacy questions or requests about the website, contact the controller using the details below.
